Indispensable Baby Gear

What You Need for Baby, Mom and Dad

Pages:  1

For Baby
  • Stroller with reclining seat so Baby can take naps inside or outside;
  • Bouncy seat with or without vibrating mechanism (helps lull Baby to sleep);
  • Bassinet and/or Moses basket;
  • Crib and changing table mobiles – look at import stores for colorful, unique and inexpensive alternatives;
  • Head holder/cushion to cradle Baby's head in the car seat;
  • Hand-me-down clothing from friends and relatives;
  • Plastic links for playing with as well as for chewing on (and they attach to the carseat or stroller so they don't fall on the floor);
  • Battery-operated swing;
  • Packages of disposable diapers in size newborn up through size 4;
  • Package of cotton diapers for using as spit-up cloths;
  • Nightgowns – make the endless diaper changes much easier;
  • Pacifiers, if you plan to use them (get plenty, since you can never find one when you need one), and pacifier clips;
  • Glider or rocking chair;
  • Highchair;
  • Exersaucer, stationary walker.

For Mom
  • Gift certificate for a day at a spa;
  • Babysitting by friends or relatives so she can take a nap;
  • Boppy pillow for nursing/feeding, then later for supporting Baby as s/he learns to sit up;
  • Hand-me-down maternity clothing and nursing bras;
  • Nourishing meals and snacks.

For Dad
  • Picture frames/brag books;
  • Front carrier or backpack baby carrier;
  • New video camera and photo albums;
  • Babysitting by friends or relatives so he and Mom can reconnect;
  • Video rentals so he has something to watch as he feeds Baby at night.
